You're reading: High Anti-Corruption Court arrests road service head in Mykolaiv Oblast

The High Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine has taken into custody the head of the Automobile Roads Service in Mykolaiv region with the right of bail, the National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has reported.

“Detention with an alternative of Hr 1.927 million of bail: the court chose a pretrial restriction for the head of the Automobile Roads Service in Mykolaiv region, caught by the SAPO and the NABU on receiving Hr 300,000 and $90,000 of undue benefits,” a report on Facebook reads.

As reported, on September 11 the NABU detained the head of the Automobile Roads Service in Mykolaiv region while receiving a bribe. His actions are qualified according to Part 4 of Article 368 (obtaining of undue profit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

On September 12, NABU investigators informed the detainee of suspicion of receiving, together with extortion, Hr 300,000 and $90,000 of undue profit. The investigators established that in August he demanded and received Hr 300,000 from a private company for assistance in transferring almost Hr 4.62 million to it as payment for the actually completed repair of the Dnipro-Mykolaiv road (H-11).

According to the information on the website of the Automobile Roads Service in Mykolaiv region, the acting chief of the service is Andriy Maksymenko.
