Ukraine’s High Council of Justice has agreed that the number of judges in the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) should be 39, of which 12 will serve in that court’s appeals chamber.

“On July 23, 2018, the High Council of Justice received an appeal from the Chairman of the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine, dated July 20, 2018, with a proposal to agree on the number of judges in the High Anti-Corruption Court – 39 members, of which 12 judges would serve in the appeals chamber of the same court. The High Council of Justice agreed,” the High Council of Justice’s press service said on Tuesday.

According to Part 6 of Article 19 of the Law “On the Judicial System and Status of Judges,” the number of judges in court is determined by the State Judicial Administration of Ukraine in consultation with the High Council of Justice, taking into account the judicial burden and within the limits determined in the budget of Ukraine for the maintenance of courts and the remuneration of judges.
