The Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine in 2020 plans to repair 77 km of local roads at the expense of the State Road Fund, as well as at the expense of international financial organizations.

The press service of the ministry reported referring to Deputy Minister of Infrastructure for European Integration Natalia Forsyuk, 0.5-17 km of local roads in each region were repaired annually from 2010 through 2017. Since 2018, this figure has amounted 40-45 km, and in 2020 it is planned to almost double it – up to 77 km.

However, according to her, despite the rhythmic growth of work, the amount of financing of territorial road funds is still insufficient to restore the entire length of the network of local roads and implement large-scale infrastructure development projects in the regions.

“Partial solution of this issue is possible due to additional financial resources, including low-interest loans from international financial organizations,” the press service quoted Forsyuk as saying.

She also noted that the permanent partners of Ukraine – the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the European Investment Bank – have already expressed their willingness to provide funding to regional state administrations for the restoration and improvement of the network of local roads.
