You're reading: Inter sees National TV Council’s warning for broadcasting film ‘The Irony of Fate’ as unjustified

The Inter television channel considers unjustified the decision by Ukraine’s National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting to issue a warning against the channel for broadcasting the films “The Irony of Fate, or Enjoy Your Bath!” and “Moscow Does Not Believe in Tears” (both produced in the Soviet Union).

The channel’s report notes that for each of these films the authorized state body (the State Committee for Cinematography) issued official authorization documents for television broadcasting on Ukrainian territory.

“Despite this, the National Council illegally applied the sanction against the television channel,” Inter said.

The channel’s editorial board stressed that taking into account the decision taken by the council, Inter will be forced to replace the films, which, in the council’s opinion, are not allowed to be shown.

The report also notes that Inter will seek to protect the interests of the channel and its viewers in the courts.

As reported, on January 18, 2018, the National Council on Television and Radio Broadcasting scheduled checks on the Inter television channel for broadcasting programs with the participation of persons from the sanctions list.
