You're reading: International Interpol training starts in Kyiv

A five-day training course, dubbed “Radiological and Nuclear Safety: Prevention and Response” has kicked off in Kyiv on October 15. Some 50 representatives from a number of countries are taking part in the event.

According to the communication department of Ukraine’s National Police, the training course is held under the auspices of the Interpol General Secretariat. Representatives of law enforcement agencies of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania and Turkey take part in the training. In addition, representatives of the Interpol General Secretariat and the U.S. Department of Energy participate in the event.

Representatives of Ukraine’s State Border Guard Service, the State Nuclear Regulatory Inspectorate of Ukraine, the SBU Security Service, National Guard, National Police and State Emergency Service are taking part in the training course.

The course is intended to familiarize representatives of interested international law enforcement agencies with modern methods of preventing and solving crimes related to illicit trafficking in nuclear materials.

Head of Ukraine’s National Police Serhiy Kniazev said three policemen would now represent Ukraine in Interpol.
