The State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) is checking information on the appropriation of funds by officials of Kyiv City State Administration and Kyivvodokanal during the construction of the first stage of Bortnychi aeration station in Kyiv and the reconstruction of utility facilities.

“According to preliminary data, officials have gone beyond their authority and overestimated the cost of the work performed and purchased materials for a total of more than Hr 150 million. The possibility of withdrawing these funds through controlled organizations with the assistance of tax officials is being studied,” the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation said.

It was also found that Kyivvodokanal in 2020, after holding two tenders for the reconstruction of a section of the Syretsky gravity sewer in Podil district and a sewer collector in Obolon district of Kyiv, used reinforced concrete pipes, the cost and technical indicators of which were significantly lower than those declared in the tender documentation on the ProZorro website.

During searches at the enterprises, the SBI officers seized the documentation related to the performance of construction work at the aforementioned facilities. The persons involved are being established.

A pre-trial investigation has begun on the fact of abuse of power or official position, which entailed grave consequences (Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

Earlier Kyivvodokanal reported that the SBI officers came for searches to the head office. Kyivvodokanal stated that it provides all the necessary information and cooperates with the investigators.
