You're reading: Israel donates equipment to Ukrainian rescuers to prepare for Rosh Hashanah in Uman

A division of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the city of Uman, Cherkasy region, has received equipment from the Israeli side to prepare for the celebration of the Jewish New Year (Rosh Hashanah), the Israeli Embassy in Ukraine reports on Twitter.

“The Israeli Embassy in Ukraine with the assistance of the Haverim Jewish organization established cooperation between the fire services and the main department of the State Emergency Service in Cherkasy region. The Israeli side transferred the equipment of the unit in Uman to prepare for Rosh Hashanah,” the message says.

Every autumn in the city of Uman, Cherkasy region, where the tomb of the leader of the Bratslav Hasidim Tzadik Nakhman, is located, Hasidic pilgrims from all over the world arrive to celebrate Rosh Hashanah. According to the National Police of Ukraine, about 50,000 Hasidic pilgrims may arrive in Uman in 2021. Meanwhile, several thousand Hasidic pilgrims have already arrived in Uman.

This year’s Rosh Hashanah celebration will take place from Sept. 6-8.
