Joint Force Operations (JFO) commanders have reached agreements on the introduction of a ceasefire during the New Year and Christmas holidays from midnight on December 29, but in the event of a threat from the enemy to the life and health of the Ukrainian military and civilians, it reserves the right to use fire weapons.
“The command of the combined forces reserves the right to use duty fire weapons in the event of a threat to the lives and health of servicemen and civilians, repelling the enemy’s attack on the positions of the Ukrainian military, protecting military and civilian infrastructure objects that are under the protection and defense of the combined forces in order to prevent losses among personnel, the prevention of terrorist acts, attempts to commit violent seizure of weapons, military and other equipment,” the JFO said in a statement posted to Facebook on December 28.
JFO HQ said in order to safely hold the New Year and Christmas holidays in some areas of occupied Donetsk and Luhansk regions agreements were reached on the indefinite observance of a ceasefire with the Russia-led occupation forces starting from 00:00 (Kyiv time) on December 29, 2018.
