The investigating judge of Prymorsky District Court of Odesa refused to consider the petition to release activist and blogger Serhiy Sternenko from custody, according to Sternenko’s official Facebook page.

“The court will not consider the petition for the release of Serhiy Sternenko from custody. Investigative judge [Ihor] Osyk left the petition without consideration, because, in his opinion, Serhiy was not in the premises of Prymorsky court today, but was in the pretrial detention center all the time,” the court said on March 5.

It also notes that “while the lawyers were waiting for the consideration of the petition, Serhiy was taken to the pretrial detention center without warning.”

As reported, on March 5, activist and blogger Sternenko, sentenced to seven years in prison in the case of the kidnapping of deputy of Lyman village council Serhiy Scherbych, appealed the court verdict.
