You're reading: Kharkiv police open three cases for attempts to bribe voters

Another criminal proceeding on the application of an attempt to bribe a voter has been opened in Kharkiv, the liaison department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kharkiv region has reported.

“An unknown woman called the 60-year-old applicant and offered Hr 500 to vote in elections in favor of a certain candidate for the presidency of Ukraine. The applicant refused and turned off the phone. There were no more calls,” the report says.

A case has been opened under Part 2 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (bribing a voter, referendum participant).

This is the third criminal proceeding, opened on the statement of an attempt to bribe the voter. According to the communications department, the scheme was similar in all three cases, when an unknown woman suggested that the applicants vote for the same candidate.
