Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko on Wednesday, March 3, has testified in Sviatoshynsky District Court of Kyiv in the case of the shootings on the Independence Square in February 2014, the mayor’s press service has said.

“Vitali Klitschko spoke about the events in which he took part as a MP and one of the leaders of the Maidan. In particular, about the start of actions after Viktor Yanukovych did not sign the Association Agreement with the EU, about the reaction to the beating of students on the night of Nov. 30, about the storming of the House of Trade Unions by the security forces and the negotiations between the leaders of the Maidan and the leadership of the state. And also about the tragic events – the shootings of Maidan activists on Instytutska Street on Feb. 18 and 20, 2014,” the statement said.

Klitschko also denied the assumptions of the lawyers of the former Berkut officers, who are accused of killing activists, that peaceful protesters used firearms against law enforcement officers.
