Head of Ukraine’s delegation to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) for the settlement of the situation in Donbas Leonid Kravchuk has said that the delegation plans to discuss a range of compromises in Minsk and left open the possibility of implementation of the Steinmeier formula by Ukraine.
“Yesterday we had the first meeting of our delegation… The Steinmeier formula was not discussed directly. But I leave open the possibility that it may happen,” he said in the political talk show Pulse on air of the 112 Ukraine television channel.
Kravchuk said that neither Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, nor Ukrainian diplomats or officials ever refused from the Steinmeier formula.
“The other thing is how to understand it, how to implement it. We should think, discuss and suggest how this can be done. And we should accept the formula as it had been approved and also signed in the TCG,” Kravchuk said.
The Ukrainian delegation also plans to discuss a range of compromises in Minsk, but not the matters of independence or sovereignty of its territories, he said.
“I will tell you what compromises cannot be discussed at all. Firstly, if someone thinks that compromises can be applied to independence or territorial integrity or sovereignty, he or she is grossly mistaken. These issued are outside the red line. We will not discuss them,” the head of the Ukrainian delegation said.
