President Volodymyr Zelensky and U.S. President Joe Biden will discuss political, economic and security issues during their first meeting in Washington D.C. on Aug. 30, according to Ukraine’s Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba.
Kuleba didn’t specify what those issues are, saying he was not ready to reveal them.
According to him, strengthening political relationships with the United States is a major priority for Ukraine.
“We have had a strategic partnership with the United States since 2008. Clearly, everything has changed during this time and we need to take this strategic partnership to a new level,” Kuleba said to Ukraina 24 TV channel on Aug. 9.
Economic cooperation is yet another area of interest for Ukraine, the foreign minister said.
“There is no secret that we want to see more American money in the Ukrainian economy. Especially in the strategic sectors of our economy,” Kuleba said.
“We can build a very effective partnership with American business and American financial institutions.”
Kuleba has just returned from Washington, where he was getting everything ready for Zelensky’s visit.
Together with Zelensky’s chief of staff, Andriy Yermak, Kuleba met with the top-level American officials including Biden’s national security adviser Jacob Sullivan and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken.
