The deputies of Kyiv City Council at a meeting of the standing committee on health and social policy on Jan. 28 supported the introduction of changes to the city targeted program “Health of Kyiv residents” for 2020-2022, according to which the city plans to allocate Hr 140 million for the purchase of COVID-19 vaccines in 2021.
According to the website of Kyiv City Council, the matter concerns the possibility of purchasing drugs for vaccination of about 500,000 Kyiv residents.
“Currently, Mayor of Kyiv Vitali Klitschko is negotiating the purchase of a vaccine against coronavirus with American and European manufacturers so that we can prevent the spread of the disease. The capital is ready to purchase the vaccine for the city budget. Therefore, we must foresee the corresponding amount in the city target program so that, when agreements are reached, we could immediately buy the drugs,” the deputy head of Kyiv City State Administration and the deputy of Kyiv City Council, Hanna Starostenko, said.
Earlier, Vitali Klitschko announced negotiations with several manufacturers on the purchase of the COVID-19 vaccine for the capital.
