The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine counts on the unchanged approaches of the European Union in the issue of sanctions policy against the Russian Federation until the Minsk agreements are fully implemented.

“We are grateful for the decision of the EU to extend economic and sectoral sanctions against the Russian Federation for the next six months, until January 31, 2018 due to the lack of progress in Moscow’s implementation of the Minsk accords,” the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday.

It is noted that Kyiv highly appreciates the unity and solidarity of the EU with Ukraine in confronting Russian aggression and diplomatic efforts that are undertaken by the international community to restore the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

“We count on the unchanged approach of the EU in the issue of sanctions policy, in particular, regarding the binding of the action of restrictive measures to the cessation of aggression and full implementation of the Minsk agreements as an effective tool for inducing the Russian Federation to fulfill its obligations,” the commentary says.

“We hope that in September 2017 individual sanctions against individuals will also continue in connection with actions that undermine the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine,” the Foreign Ministry said.
