The Ukrainian government has approved a plan envisaging a visit by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to celebrate the 20th anniversary since Kyiv and NATO signed the Charter on a Distinctive Partnership.

The decision was made at a government meeting on Wednesday without discussion.

A joint video address by the Ukrainian president and the NATO secretary general on the occasion of the charter’s anniversary will be broadcast on July 9.

Under the plan, events on July 10 include a visit to Ukraine by a North Atlantic Council delegation, Stoltenberg’s speech in Ukrainian parliament, a NATO-Ukraine Commission meeting attended by Petro Poroshenko, and an international conference.

In July NATO is also opening a new office in Kyiv.
