The State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection will check all business entities for which there is information about their violation of quarantine, Deputy Minister of Health, Chief Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko said.
“I received other photos with outrageous facts that restaurants are open, and I have already talked Deputy Economy Minister Serhiy Hluschenko and the head of the Food Safety Service to focus on these violations. Based on the results of this meeting, we will hold a conference call with the regional heads of the Food Safety Service. Violators will be punished,” he told Interfax-Ukraine.
Liashko said that when the quarantine was announced, the Health Ministry listened to requests from business to give them the opportunity to work until Christmas (Jan. 7), but the business, in turn, does not comply with the conditions for observing quarantine restrictions.
“When we planned quarantine, we met with the business. By the New Year holidays, when it would be necessary to close, the business asked to give it the opportunity to work until the holidays, if the epidemic situation allowed, and to close after Christmas. Business representatives assured that they would close after Christmas and would comply with all restrictions,” he said.
At the same time, Liashko said that “in general, quarantine is observed in the country.”
“There are no such outrageous violations, including in Kyiv and in other cities. There are certain locations or owners who do not want to comply with quarantine restrictions. Supervisory authorities will work with them,” he said.
Liashko said that orders are already being sent to violators.
