Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol during a meeting with Deputy Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Ihor Zhovkva conveyed an invitation from President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky to pay on an official visit to Belarus in 2020.
“The Ukrainian side was given an invitation from President of the Republic of Belarus A.G. Lukashenko to President of Ukraine V. O. Zelensky on an official visit to Belarus in 2020 and to take part in the third Forum of Regions. During the meeting with Zhovkva, embroidered Belarusian shirts were handed over to President of Ukraine V.O. Zelensky and his wife Olena as a return gift from President of the Republic of Belarus A. Lukashenko,” the website of the Belarusian Embassy in Ukraine said on Tuesday.
In a letter addressed to the president of Ukraine, Lukashenko noted that the Belarusian embroidered shirt “emphasizes the peculiarity, cultural interconnection and closeness of our peoples,” and also wished this embroidered shirt to become “a talisman and a sign of deep friendship between Belarusians and Ukrainians.”
During the meeting, the state and prospects of the development of Belarusian-Ukrainian cooperation in the trade, economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as preparations for the third Forum of the Regions of Belarus and Ukraine, which will be held in Grodno in October 2020, were discussed.
The results of the implementation of the agreements at the highest level as a result of the meeting of the presidents of Belarus and Ukraine in Zhytomyr on October 4, 2019 were also discussed.
