Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko has said that in the Hague on Monday he discussed the possibility of investigating the case concerning events on the Maidan, in annexed Crimea and occupied Donbas.

“I have had several meetings with representatives of the ICC prosecutor’s office in Kyiv. Today we have met with the head of the prosecutor’s office and discussed the possibility of a joint approach to these two cases. Our investigation finds that it is impossible to separately consider the events on the Maidan, events during the annexation of Crimea and events during the Russian not declared aggression in Ukrainian Donbas,” he said in the Freedom of Speech program on ICTV channel on Monday.

According to him, former President Viktor Yanukovych created an organized criminal group and, together with others, he committed crimes against Ukrainian citizens – stood on the path of treason.

“We believe that this is one element of the crime and we offer our colleagues from the office of the ICC prosecutor to consider the case as the case of former president’s treason, murder of hundreds of people at his order, the beginning of an undeclared war aggression, which have led to crimes against humanity and war crimes,” the prosecutor general said.
