You're reading: Man who threatened to detonate grenade in govt building to be assigned psychiatric examination

A man who broke into the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine with a grenade on Aug. 4 morning, will undergo a psychiatric examination, Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Denys Monastyrsky said.

“He has been detained. Investigative actions will be carried out with him in the future, including a psychiatric examination. During the investigation it will become clear what prompted the war veteran with the Russian Federation, a sapper by profession, to pick up a grenade and go to the government building,” Monastyrsky wrote on Facebook.

The Minister thanked the police, SBU and State Security Directorate, who took part in the special operation, and also expressed special gratitude to the offender’s comrade, volunteer and deputy of the Bucha City Council Vasyl Oleksiuk, who led the talks.

As reported, a man entered the building of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine, threatening to detonate a grenade. A special police operation was launched in the capital, and negotiations with the man were held.

Later, head of the National Police Ihor Klymenko said that law enforcement officers detained and neutralized the man, he will be a suspect. At the same time, the head of the National Police said that the detainee had a grenade in his hands, which could harm both people and the state building.
