A Ukrainian media group has created a special multimedia project in honor of each journalist killed in Russia’s ongoing unprovoked war against Ukraine.

Russia’s war in Ukraine had already taken the lives of 23 media workers not only from Ukraine, but from the rest of the world, including media workers from Fox News, The New York Times and The Insider. 16 journalists and seven workers in other areas of the media sphere were killed, dozens were injured, are missing or kidnapped.

On May 3, World Press Freedom Day, the Ukrainian media holding Starlight Media created the first multimedia project Media Memorial to honor the memory of colleagues and to show the stories of Ukrainian and foreign journalists, who gave their lives for the truth.

The Media Memorial team received facts from the Prosecutor-General of Ukraine, the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the Ministry of Culture and Information Policy of Ukraine.

The authors of the project collected memories of the deceased from relatives and colleagues from around the world.

“The team calls not to be indifferent to the stories of journalists and to help their families who have lost their loved ones, brothers, mothers – their happy future with them. To do this, active buttons for voluntary donations have been created on the site”, comments Sabina Ablyayeva, project author and marketing director at the ICTV channel.

Media Memorial was created with the support of partners: Latvijas Radio, the Baltic Centre for Media Excellence and the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.
