German Chancellor Angela Merkel has equated the annexation of Crimea to the division of Germany, the TV Channel 5 has reported.
“When I hear, for example, that we should simply accept the Russian annexation of Crimea, I think: what would have happened to us if we had used similar slogans in the GDR?,” the website said on Sept. 10 evening, citing the interview with Merkel to the German edition.
She said that she was thinking about what fate would await Germany if the same slogans were applied in the GDR at the end of the last century. The Chancellor such an injustice can not be tolerated.
