MOSCOW – The participants in the negotiations of the Contact Group on Ukraine have completed verification of the lists of the persons held in the conflict area in Donbas, Ukrainian politician Viktor Medvedchuk said on Rossiya-24 television (VGTRK).
“There is currently a stage that we have completed. It’s so-called verification. There are people, and there are several hundreds of them, who are wanted by the DPR (self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic] and the LPR (self-proclaimed Luhansk Pople’s Republic) on the territory of Ukraine and for whom requests for release have been made, but they do not want to return to the territory uncontrolled by Ukraine. Thus, we have completed a survey of those people, we had to make those surveys evidence for Luhansk and Donetsk that these people really do not want to return,” Medvedchuk said on Wednesday.
These people should be removed from the list, he said.
“We should remove them from the list, and that will leave us with that list of exchange ‘all for all.’ That is, we have taken that path, it’s one of those stages that make us closer to the finish line, when the ‘all for all’ exchange lists are determined and, naturally, the dates of such an exchange,” Medvedchuk said.
