You're reading: MFA issues advisory warning Ukrainians against participation in protests in Hong Kong

Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) recommends that citizens of Ukraine not participate in meetings, demonstrations and protests in Hong Kong, the MFA press service said in an advisory.

“In connection with the aggravation of the security situation in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) of the People’s Republic of China, over mass protests, which caused the cancellation of flights at the International Airport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recommends that citizens of Ukraine take into account emergency situations in Hong Kong and limit moving around the territory of Hong Kong, to avoid crowded places. [The ministry also advises Ukrainians] not to take part in meetings, demonstrations, to strictly observe security measures and the rules for the stay of foreigners in this SAR, as well as to monitor reports of Ukrainian and international media, local authorities on the development of the situation,” says the ministry’s advisory posted on the official Facebook page of the MFA Consular Service Department on August 12 evening.
