The conscription for military service starts in Ukraine from Thursday, April 1.

“In the period from April to June of this year, some 14,246 people will be called up for urgent military service. In particular, some 6,500 people in the Armed Forces of Ukraine; some 600 people in the State Special Transport Service; some 4,646 people in the National Guard; some 2,500 people in the State Border Guard Service,” the press service of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said with reference to the statement of head of the department for the organization of recruitment of privates and sergeants of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Valeriy Dendebera.

The conscription starts on April 1 in accordance with the presidential decree.

The Ukrainian Armed Forces said the indicators of the current conscription in the Armed Forces have been reduced due to the increase in the number of military servicepersons under contract and in order to prevent exceeding the maximum numbers of the Armed Forces.

“Consequently, fewer conscripts are being called up into the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at the same time, some other military formations, on the contrary, have increased their numbers,” Dendebera said.

He also said that conscripts are not included in the priority groups for vaccination against coronavirus (COVID-19), which are vaccinated in the early stages. However, during their stay in the Armed Forces, they will be able to get vaccinated against COVID-19, since the military are among the priority groups of the population who are recommended to be vaccinated at its third stage.
