At least 355 civilians have been killed and 1,456 injured in mine explosions in Donbas over the past four years, the Ukrainian Ministry for the Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons said on May 4.

“At least 355 civilians were killed and 1,456 injured by mines and explosive remnants of war (ERW) in the Donbas area under Ukraine’s control between May 2014 and March 2018,” the ministry’s press service said, citing data collected by the ministry’s branches in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions and confirmed by local governments.

A total of 178 civilians were killed in mine blasts and 1,108 injured in the area of Donetsk region under the Ukrainian government’s control, while in Luhansk region, 177 civilians were killed and 348 civilians injured.

These figures only reflect confirmed cases and may rise if more information is obtained, the ministry said.
