MOSCOW – Russian Human Rights Commissioner Tatyana Moskalkova said she has informed her Ukrainian counterpart, Liudmyla Denisova, that she has sent the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN) a request for permission for both ombudsmen to visit Ukrainian filmmaker Oleh Sentsov, who has been on a hunger strike in a penal colony for 40 days.

“During the conversation, I informed my counterpart that I have sent a letter to the director of the Federal Penitentiary Service requesting permission for Liudmyla Denisova to visit Oleh Sentsov with me,” Moskalkova wrote on Instagram.

She met with Denisova in Moscow on June 22, she wrote.

The meeting was a follow-up to the discussion between the heads of the two states on the issues of reciprocal visits to incarcerated citizens, Moskalkova wrote.
