The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has completed an investigation against MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko as part of a case related to the embezzlement of funds during the production and sale of natural gas, NABU Director Artem Sytnyk has said.

“Recently, the case against Onyshchenko was completed. This is the last big piece of that big case, which involved the ex-head of the State Fiscal Service, a number of other officials, including officials of Ukrgazvydobuvannia, those who were involved in the scheme for embezzling almost Hr 3 billion,” A. Sytnyk at a briefing in Kyiv said last week.

According to him, the investigation has now been completed and “in the coming days, the indictment will be sent to court.”

As reported, Onyshchenko is suspected of organizing a scheme for embezzling funds during the extraction and sale of natural gas under joint activity agreements with PJSC Ukrgazvydobuvannia by law enforcement agencies of Ukraine.

The Verkhovna Rada granted consent to bringing him to justice arresting him on July 5, 2016. However, on the eve of the voting, taking advantage of the status of people’s deputy, Onyshchenko left the territory of the state. He was put on the national wanted list on August 8, 2016.
