The National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has sent an indictment against the former president of JSC Sea Trident and the former director of Zealand Holdings Inc., the ship owning company, who are accused of causing damage to the state for the amount of over Hr 219 million.

The two persons are accused of committing a crime under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (misappropriation, embezzlement or conversion or property by malversation).

According to investigators, the accused persons jointly with officials of the Infrastructure Ministry in 2012 sold merchant vessels African Lark, Etna, Elbrus and Everest at low prices in violation of the Ukrainian legislation. Infrastructure Ministry transferred these vessels to the charter capital of Sea Trident as the ministry’s contribution.

As reported, the pretrial investigation was launched in December 2015 by the NABU after the Prosecutor General’s Office handed the respective materials to the bureau.

In January 2018, the former officials of Sea Trident and Zealand Holdings Inc. were notified that they are suspected of committing the crime.
