The National Anti-corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) has been ordered by a court to open criminal proceedings on the fact of a possible criminal offense by ex-President and European Solidarity Party member of parliament Petro Poroshenko and ex-Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin.
“We inform you that by a decision of the investigating judge of Kyiv’s Solomiansky District Court Vyshniak M.V., dated August 15, 2019, NABU, whose competence includes entering information into the Unified Register of Pretrial Investigations (URPI), is obligated to enter information about a possible criminal offense into the URPI, committed by the ex-Foreign Minister Klimkin and ex-President Poroshenko,” the NABU’s press service said.
NABU added that “on August 23, 2019, a NABU detective entered the relevant information into the URPI based on the court ruling.
As reported, Solomiansky District Court received a lawsuit from a certain citizen, whose name is not indicated (“PERSON_1”) that on July 15 he filed a criminal complaint with the NABU about a possible crime committed by Klimkin and Poroshenko under Article 364 (abuse of power or official position) of Ukraine’s Criminal Code. The circumstances of the alleged offense are not disclosed.
According to the case file, information on the commission of criminal offenses was not entered into the URPI.
