The Exploration and Production Division of the Naftogaz Group launched new well No. 366 at the Yablunivske site with a capacity of over 365,000 cubic meters of gas per day, the Association of Gas Producers of Ukraine reported on Facebook on Oct. 29.

“The design depth of the well is 5,070 m, it was drilled in less than half a year,” the association said.

Naftogaz told Interfax-Ukraine that testing and research work continues at the well.

“For this field, this is the result of the activities of developers, drillers, and industrialists. The developers of UkrNDIGas and Poltavagazvydobuvannia have chosen the optimal site for placing the well, thanks to which it was possible to penetrate productive beds with increased reservoir pressure, which were not previously involved in active development,” the company said.

The Yablunivske site is the second (after Shebelynske) in terms of gas production among the fields of JSC Ukrgazvydobuvannia. It provides more than 1 billion cubic meters of gas per year.

At the same time, it was reported that the Yablunivske site has been developed since 1983 and is currently considered depleted. During the development of the field, more than 60 billion cubic meters of gas have been withdrawn from it. The residual reserves are 30% of the initial.

Over the past four years of operation at the Yablunivske field, Ukrgazvydobuvannia has managed to switch from a decline in production to an increase of 18%, or 210 million cubic meters of gas.
