The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) has not received new documents for approving the acquisition of substantial stake in Prominvestbank (PIB, Kyiv), the press service of the central bank has told Interfax-Ukraine.

The press service said that on July 14 the NBU received a letter from representatives of Ukrainian businessman Oleksandr Yaroslavsky. He expressed his intent to present a package of documents to the regulator seeking the approval of the acquisition of the bank. Until now the package of documents has not been submitted.

The press service recalled that on July 28 the committee for supervision and regulation of banks’ operations, oversight of payment systems at the NBU decided to deny the approval of the acquisition of substantial share in PIB for Maksym Mykytas and Pavlo Fuks. The decision was made due to the investors’ failure to provide necessary and sufficient documents to verify their compliance with requirements of Ukrainian legislation.

Earlier on August 29 Chairman of Vnesheconombank (VEB, the key owner of PIB) Sergei Gorkov told reporters that the bank is waiting for the decision of the NBU to sign a deal to sell PIB.
