The planned television link with Russia will be aired July 12, owner of Ukrainian channel NewsOne Taras Kozak said.
“This morning I saw that it is going to be held on July 12 on Russian television,” Kozak, a political board member in the Opposition Platform-For Life Party, said at a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Moscow on July 10.
The Ukrainian journalists who were preparing for the link had already been questioned by the Prosecutor General’s Office, Kozak said.
“Thank you to your journalists who are not dropping this subject, because there is a share of Russian television in Ukraine, we have satellite dishes, and people are watching, people see the truth because they wanted to talk without politics,” Kozak said.
“This television link was supposed to be held on the television channel that I own [but] we canceled it for security reasons,” he said.
He hopes that the Ukrainian people will give an appraisal of the party of war on election day and the two nations will continue to communicate.
NewsOne earlier complained about pressure by authorities. Its journalists were summoned for questioning as part of a criminal inquiry launched by the Prosecutor General and Security Service.
