The Ukrainian government has approved the draft law “On the List of Objects of State Property Rights Not Subject to Privatization.”

“This list, at the suggestion of the Ministry for the Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine (Ministry of Reintegration), includes two strategic objects – the Department of the North Crimean Canal and the Department of the Kakhovsky Main Canal. These enterprises are included in the list to ensure constant monitoring of them and avoid possible threats to national interests,” the press service of the Ministry of Reintegration said.

“The Ministry of Reintegration is concerned about the situation in the temporarily occupied Crimea, where the Russian occupation authorities barbarously use water resources to provide water to the occupying army and further militarize the Ukrainian peninsula, neglecting the needs of the population. According to experts, the available resources are sufficient to fully meet the needs of the population of the peninsula. The things we observe is a deliberate violation by Russia of international humanitarian law. Ukraine will resume water supply to Crimea immediately after its de-occupation,” said Ihor Yaremenko, Deputy Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories.

The Administration of the North Crimean Canal and the Administration of the Kakhovsky Main Canal are included in the List of State Property Objects of Strategic Importance for the Economy and Security of the State, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 83 of March 4, 2015.
