The Ukrainian Embassy has sent a diplomatic note to the Polish Foreign Ministry on the death of a Ukrainian man in Wroclaw.

“The Ukrainian Embassy has sent a note to the Polish Foreign Ministry on the death of a Ukrainian in Wroclaw,” Ukrainian Ambassador to Poland Andriy Deshchytsia wrote on his Twitter account.

Earlier, Gazeta Wyborcza reported on the death of a Ukrainian citizen, 25-year-old Dmytro Nykyforenko, in a sobering-up center in Wroclaw. According to the ezine, they applied gas to him, beat him with fists and truncheons, and later he was strangled by police officers and an employee of the center.

Spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleh Nikolenko earlier told Interfax-Ukraine that the Consulate General of Ukraine in Krakow interacts with Polish law enforcement officers in the context of the investigation into the circumstances of Nykyforenko’s death and maintains a link with his family. According to him, one of the versions of the investigation is abuse of authority by police officers.

“We will make every effort so that all the circumstances of our citizen’s death are clarified, and the perpetrators are brought to justice,” the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.
