The decision to stop broadcasting the 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZIK television channels, which fell under the sanctions, cannot be canceled, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) Oleksiy Danilov said.

“Until the time when we had not fully collected all the materials regarding the activities of these persons directly on the territory of the Russian Federation, until we collected all this in a single pool, we could not make a decision. Then we would faced a certain danger of canceling such decisions. These decisions will no longer be canceled,” Danilov said during an online discussion at Kyiv Security Forum on Feb. 5.

According to him, the decision on sanctions against three television channels was being prepared within eight months.

“The decision was prepared very carefully, and if someone thinks that such a decision can be prepared in a day, in a week, in a month, then he is mistaken. Work on such a decision started last summer. The staff of the National Security and Defense Council very closely monitors everything that happens in the information space,” Danilov said.

He said the NSDC was clear that these television channels were not mass media, but “a purely propaganda machine of the Russian Federation.”

“What they did is not mass media in the literal sense of the word, these are purely elements of a hybrid, information war, this is information terror against our state, which was launched by the Russian Federation using its accomplices,” the NSDC secretary saidd.

Danilov said the materials on the activities of the television channels were prepared in a system of certain secrecy due to the presence of large Russian agents in Ukraine.
