Illegal armed formations in Luhansk region have shelled areas near the village of Stanytsia Luhanska, which was selected as one of the three localities for disengagement under the Minsk peace agreement, and one Ukrainian serviceman has been wounded, according to local authorities.

“The situation along the line of disengagement has relatively stabilized. However, as the military have noted, the parts of Stanytsia Luhanska from which forces were supposed to withdraw under the framework agreements of the Minsk accords came under fire. Our soldiers had to fire small arms in response. One soldier was wounded in action,” head of the Luhansk region’s Ukrainian-appointed state administration Yuriy Harbuz said.

The local authorities also reported that illegal armed formations shelled Ukrainian positions in the Luhansk sector three times on Monday. In particular, the village of Novo-Oleksandrivka in Popasna district came under 82mm mortar and grenade fire twice.

Ukrainian positions near the village of Stanytsia Luhanska had been shelled for almost two hours on Monday evening. The enemy used AGS-17 grenade launchers, and small arms. The village also came under sniper fire.
