One Ukrainian soldier was killed in shelling, another two were wounded in action amid attacks by Russia-backed separatists in the east of Ukraine on March 29, the Ukrainian army headquarters said on Facebook.

The losses among separatists are being verified. The situation in the combat zone is under the Ukrainian military’s control, the Joint Forces Operation (JFO) HQ said in an evening update on March 29.

According to the report, since March 29 midnight, Russian-led forces violated the ceasefire 10 times, using banned weapons in seven instances. In total, they lobbed fifty-nine 120mm and 82mm shells on Ukrainian positions.

In particular, they used 120mm mortars and anti-tank grenade launchers to shell JFO forces near the village of Shyrokyne. They used anti-tank grenade launchers near the village of Lebedynske, Donetsk region’s Volovakha district, while 82mm mortars were used near the village of Vodiane, Donetsk region’s Novoazovsk district.

Russia-backed troops also used small arms to fire at JFO positions near the village of Zaitseve, Donetsk region.

The remaining six attacks were recorded in Luhansk region’s Popasna district. They used 120mm and 82mm mortars, weapons of infantry fighting vehicles, grenade launchers.
