The largest online bookstore in Ukraine Yakaboo has opened the first own bricks-and-mortar bookstore in the building of the Main Post Office located at 22, Khreschatyk Street in Kyiv, according to a posting on the website of the company.

“For us, the first bricks-and-mortar store is the story of moving from “virtualization” with our clients, services and market development. We see that now in Ukraine there are not enough bookstores and in most of them the range of books is limited. Our store is based on a unique business model. Its uniqueness lies in the fact that the client gets access to the multi-thousandth assortment of 37 square meters,” Yakaboo Director General Ivan Bohdan said.

According to him, the store will also be engaged in the issuance of orders from the Yakaboo website. In addition, a monitor is installed in the trading floor with access to the online retailer’s website, where you can immediately place an order and, if necessary, contact consultants.

“Our client in the e-commerce segment has become our tenant. Thanks to the ProZorro electronic procurement system, we can not only lease property through electronic auctions without schemes and kickbacks, but also receive a market price for it and cooperate with responsible tenants. I hope the first Yakaboo bookstore in the Main Post Office will begin a good tradition of opening their stores in the city center,” Ukrposhta CEO Igor Smelyansky said.

Yakaboo was established in 2004, initially, it was engaged in the rental and sale of licensed CDs for home delivery.

In 2009, the company began selling books, subsequently becoming the largest online bookstore in the country. The company works with more than 500 Ukrainian and foreign publishers.
