You're reading: OSCE coordinator Frisch visits ten Ukrainian hostages in Donbas, including journalist Aseyev

Coordinator of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission Toni Frisch has privately talked to ten Ukrainians who are being held in occupied Donbas, as well as to five persons who were imprisoned before the conflict and who wished to be transferred to government-controlled territory to serve their prison terms there.

Frisch said at a briefing in Kyiv on Sept. 13 that he had met with journalist and publicist Stanislav Aseyev. He also confirmed that he had managed to communicate with Bohdan Pantiushenko, Oleksandr Korinkov, and Serhiy Hlondar, but did not name the other individuals with whom he met.

Frisch did not go into details of meetings with Ukrainian hostages. Frisch’s visit was notable because he was allowed to speak to the hostages without a third party being present.
