MINSK – The truce in the crisis area in southeastern Ukraine is bringing some positive results, Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) Special Envoy to the Trilateral Contact Group (TCG) for Ukraine Martin Sajdik said.

The truce approved by the TCG continues to yield some good results in connection with the beginning of the harvesting campaign, Sajdik told reporters in Minsk on July 25.

According to the OSCE SMM’s tentative data, the number of ceasefire violations has drastically fallen starting from July 1, he said. The OSCE SMM says not a single civilian death has so far been reported since the beginning of this truce, the OSCE special envoy said.

The total number of civilian casualties has more than halved this year, he added. He also expressed hope that these tendencies will continue.
