“In the evening, PACE made a finishing shot at Russia: it voted for another report – the annual report of the monitoring committee. Requirements: to comply with all Assembly resolutions on military aggression against Ukraine; the repeated demand (second time a day) to release the ships and crew captured in the Kerch Strait and stop hindering free shipping,” Ariev wrote on Facebook on Jan. 24.

Also, according to him, PACE condemned the lack of progress in the issue of the liberation of Ukrainians, illegally detained on the territory of the Russian Federation, the illegally annexed Crimea and the occupied Donbas, and “expressed strong support in this context to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine.”

“I don’t remember that the PACE spoke on the same topic the same way twice during its session. And it was twice a day! So, they worked well,” the MP said.

As reported, on January 24, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) supported the resolution on the escalation of tensions in the Sea of Azov and the Kerch Strait. According to the draft resolution posted on the PACE website, the Assembly condemns the use of military force by Russia against Ukrainian warships and their crews, and also calls on Moscow to immediately release Ukrainian military personnel and provide them with the necessary medical, legal and/or consular assistance.
