Members of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and Defense intend to raise the issue of exclusion of deputy head of the Opposition Bloc parliamentary faction, Serhiy Lyovochkin, from their ranks.

“We’ll register a draft resolution, which the committee initiates, on the expulsion of Lyovockin, among other persons,” head of the National Security and Defense Committee Serhiy Pashynsky (People’s Front faction) told reporters on Jan. 18.

Earlier, MP from the People’s Front faction Andriy Levus advanced this initiative at a meeting of the committee.

As reported, on Dec. 15, a group of people’s deputies from different factions, including members of the Committee on National Security and Defense, prepared a draft resolution on the exclusion of non-affiliated MP Nadiya Savchenko from the committee. On Jan. 18, Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on National Security and Defense decided to appeal to the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine with a request to give an estimate as to whether there is a violation of the law in Savchenko’s actions on combating terrorism and signs of treason. Such an appeal didn’t cause objections from members of the committee.
