The Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council’s decision to update the entry procedure for foreigners visiting Ukraine does not preclude the possibility of introducing a visa regime with Russia, Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada Chairman Andriy Parubiy said.

“This does not make the introduction of visas for Russian citizens irrelevant. I’ll continue to keep the matter under my control and look for supporters of this decision. I hope we’ll be able to find a positive solution, as well,” Parubiy said in reply to a question from Interfax-Ukraine at a news briefing on Sept. 4.

Parubiy welcomed the National Security and Defense Council’s decision to update the procedure for foreigners and stateless persons crossing the Ukrainian border.

“This is the right step, aimed at restricting the unlimited entry into Ukraine of citizens of the Russian Federation,” he said.
