The person responsible for the murder of former State Duma deputy Denis Voronenkov is in the territory of Russia and has active contacts with the criminal circles and special services, Ukrainian Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko has stated.

“Two months ago we received necessary information that led us to understanding who the customer is and who the assassin is. All, except for one important person, have been identified and detained. The customer is in the Russian Federation. He is involved in Russian criminal circles and has active contacts with special services,” he said at a press conference in Mykolaiv.

Lutsenko also informed that “assassins are mostly citizens of Ukraine.”

“Those against whom we had evidence have been detained,” he stressed.

Earlier on Monday Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin said the investigation into the murder of Voronenkov has been almost completed.

As reported, Voronenkov was killed in the center of Kyiv on March 23. Murderer Pavlo Parshov was wounded by the guard of the former deputy and later died in hospital.
