Police have opened a criminal investigation into a methane gas mine explosion DTEK Pavlohradvuhillia mine in Pavlohrad, Dnipropetrovsk region that injured five miners.

The press service of the region’s police said a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 272 of Ukraine’s Criminal Code (violation of safety rules during the execution of works with increased danger) has been opened. Police are investigating.

The explosion occurred at 9:15 p.m. on January 10. All miners have been evacuated from the scene of the accident.
