Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will seek reassurance at a summit in Brussels on Thursday that EU leaders are not planning to prioritize a rapprochement with Moscow over trade with Kyiv.
At a time when the EU is embarking on a tentative détente with Russian President Vladimir Putin by dropping its hard-line opposition to Russian energy projects, Poroshenko will want concrete signals that Brussels is not going to sideline its landmark trade accord with Ukraine, but will instead deepen ties.
