Political satirist Volodymyr Zelenskiy gets 72.7 percent of support among the decided voters who say they will come to the polling stations on April 21, while incumbent President Petro Poroshenko receives 27.2 percent.
These are the results of the poll by Rating sociological group published on April 18, the last day when the law allows the sociological agencies to reveal their polls before the second round of the presidential elections.
The poll was conducted on April 12-16 and included 3,000 respondents from all over Ukraine with the margin of error of no more than 1.8 percent.
It showed a slight increase of Zelenskiy’s support in comparison to the previous poll by Rating published on April 11, which showed 71 percent for Zelenskiy and 29 for Poroshenko.
Ten percent of respondents said they wouldn’t vote and 19 percent said they would vote but are yet to decide on the candidate.
Also, 62 percent of participants of the poll believe that Zelenskiy will become the next president, while 17 percent believe it will be Poroshenko.
As it was in the previous polls, Zelenskiy has the highest support in the east, south, and center of Ukraine, while in the western regions his rating is almost equal to Poroshenko’s one.
Almost half of respondents, 48 percent, expect the improvements in the country as a result of the presidential election. Half of those polled believe that the new president may have at least one year to show the results of his work and a quarter of those polled are ready to give him at least six months.
76 percent of respondents are fine with their friends or relatives supporting a different candidate.
Nevertheless, 7 percent of voters for Zelenskiy and 22 percent of voters for Poroshenko said that the support of the other candidate is a mistake and they would try to persuade their close ones to change their opinion.
