Five parties overcome the 5% barrier in local elections in Ukraine, according to the results of a survey conducted by Sociological Group Rating.

According to data released on Tuesday, according to results of the aggregated rating of parties in local elections, five political forces overcome the conditional 5% barrier: the Servant of the People can get 16.7% of those who have made up their minds and have a clear intention to come to the polls, the Opposition Platform – For Life – 13.5%, the European Solidarity – 13.2%, the Batkivshchyna – 8.6% and Za Maibutne (For the Future) – 7.4%.

The Nash Krai is supported by 4.0%, the radical party of Oleh Liashko – 3.3%, Vitali Klitchko’s UDAR – 2.7%, Svoboda – 2.3%, the Party of Shariy – 1.9%, Proposition Party – 1.6%, Holos party – 1.4%, Strength and Honor Party – 1.2%, Palchevsky Victory Party – 0.9%. The total rating of other parties (mostly local) that take part in local elections and were included in the list for research is 21.3%.

Some 61% of the respondents announced their participation in the local elections. 18% find it difficult (50/50), another 7% may take part, 13% are unlikely.

Some 58% of the respondents said that they have already decided who to vote for, 40% have not decided. Among those who said that they will definitely come to the sites, 73% have made their choice.

If the coronavirus situation worsens, 51% confirmed their readiness to take part in the elections, 21% find it difficult (50/50), 9% may come to the polling stations and 17% are unlikely. Over the past two weeks, the number of those who are ready to come to the polling stations has increased even in the event of an exacerbation of the epidemic.

Sociologists have recorded a gradual increase in positive expectations from elections at the local level since the beginning of the study (early September). Currently, 34% of respondents believe that the situation will improve as a result of the elections in their city/village. Some 52% believe that nothing will change, and only 6% believe that it will worsen.

The survey was conducted on Oct. 16-19 among the population of Ukraine aged 18 and over in all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories of Crimea and Donbas. The sample is representative by age, sex, and type of settlement. Sample population: 5,000 respondents. Interview method: CATI (computer-assisted telephone interviews – telephone interviews using a computer, based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers). Research representativeness error: no more than 1.4%.
