President Volodymyr Zelensky remains the most popular Ukrainian politician according to the latest Rating Group poll published on July 27.
According to Rating Group, 27.7% of Ukrainians would vote for Zelensky. His closest competitor, ex-President Petro Poroshenko would receive a mere 13.4%.
Former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko would receive 11.4% of the total vote count, while 10.1% of Ukrainians would vote for Yuriy Boyko, the leader of the pro-Kremlin Opposition Platform – For Life party.
As for the parliamentary elections, five parties would make it past the 5% threshold, according to Rating Group. Three more parties are within reach of making it into parliament.
Zelensky’s 245-member Servant of the People party is supported by 24.1% of voters, while the 27-member European Solidarity party led by Poroshenko would receive 14.3%. In the 2019 parliamentary election, Zelensky’s party received 43%, and Poroshenko’s party received 8% of the vote.
Tymoshenko’s 25-member Batkivshchyna party is supported by 12.8% of people (up from 8% in 2019), while the 44-member Opposition Platform – For Life party is slightly less popular, with 12.4% of the vote share (down from 13% in 2019).T
The Ukrainian Strategy party led by ex-Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman is supported by 5% of voters. The Radical Party led by ex-lawmaker Oleh Lyashko is supported by 4.8% of Ukrainians. The same number of voters would support a pro-Russian party called Nashi, led by Yevhen Muraev, owner of Nash TV channel.
UDAR party led by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko polls at 4.3%.
Zelensky is also the most trusted Ukrainian politician, with 45% of Ukrainians polled by Rating Group saying they trust the president; 31% of respondents trust Tymoshenko followed by Poroshenko and Boyko, who are trusted by a quarter of the population.
Meanwhile, Poroshenko remains unpopular among nearly half of the country’s population; 46% of Ukrainians said they would never vote for the former president. Zelensky is doing better, with 29% of Ukrainians saying they would never vote for the current president.
Despite Zelensky’s popularity, 67% of respondents said Ukraine is heading in the wrong direction. Only a quarter of people polled by Rating Group said they are happy with how the country is governed.
The poll was conducted by phone among 2,500 people across Ukraine between July 23 and July 25. Residents of occupied Crimea and eastern parts of Donbas weren’t contacted.
The next presidential and parliamentary elections in Ukraine is expected to be held in 2024.
